Thanksgiving 2005

by admin on November 25, 2005

What a wonderful Thanksgiving we had. We went over to my Mom’s house where we had the annual Williams Thanksgiving gathering. Sharon, Truck, and Roy also joined us over there and we had 20+ people enjoying lots of great food and relaxing times. 🙂 I say relaxing because I mostly sat on the couch. LOL – It was really fun and my cousin, Kyle, who is in the Navy even brought three of his friends stationed down in San Diego to enjoy the Thanksgiving feast. It’s so wonderful when we can gather around the table and enjoy such wonderful times. My uncle Russ said an awesome prayer and it made me feel so thankful to be part of such a wonderful family. Last year we were up in Oregon enjoying the Morrison feast which we had to miss this year. Hopefully we will see them soon although I did check in and everyone is doing great. It’s also the twins 3rd birthday on the 28th! I can’t believe they are so huge.  Three years ago they were born on Thanksgiving. 🙂 I was almost afraid that would be a trend in the family but *thankfully* things held off.

Things seem to be progressing rather quickly, it seems to be. Then again, in a few minutes I will think things are slow. 🙂 As I said in the last post the Doc said I was starting to thin out. I got that horrible cold which knocked me out straight for three days and I am still recovering. Blah. Last Saturday though, I was having the worst cramps for about three hours off and on. They didn’t seem to be contractions as they had no ‘duration’ and where basically ‘cramping’ the lower part of my belly. My stomach was not getting ‘hard’ as they said it does in regaular contractions. At one point I had two strong ones right in a row that made me start crying. Poor Justin was really calm although asking me if we should call the doctor. Even then I knew that if it *was* contractions I shouldn’t be calling the doctor after two small ones. hehe – Luckily, they finally went away. We had watched Harry Potter in the theater and I think it was just sitting for two hours and not moving around. (Although – what is different about sitting in my chair all day working on the computer I will NEVER know.) At that point, Justin was promising me that *everything* would be setup for the baby the next day. We did get a few things setup on Sunday so that was exciting. We also found the bookcase / changing table that will go in the room! We had that ordered.

Sunday night found Justin and Mike heading off to the Laker game that was a birthday present for Justin. I was still recovering from my cold so was staying at home in bed. As he was on his way to Staples Center though, I had to call and tell him that I thought I had lost my mucus plug! For something slighly gross it’s funny we were so excited about it. 🙂 They say that losing your ‘plug’ is the ‘start’ of labor. I’ve heard so many stories though where you can slowly lose it and you don’t go into active labor or have your baby for another few weeks. Still, it freaked us out a bit!

We are now pretty much all setup. The gate is up for the baby room (to keep all four animals out!), the bedding is setup, all the clothes are washed, the car seat base has been installed, and the stroller is ready.  We washed the car seat and stroller padding today though and getting that stuff off was such an amazing pain. Tomorrow I’m going to have to sit down and figure out how it goes back on. At least we can work on that now before we have a screaming baby on our hands. 🙂 Also, I want to setup the bookcase we ordered and get the changing table ready for it. The bookcase is sooo awesome. It’s actually a tv stand, I think. It has shelves though and on each side are hiding ‘shevles’ that will be perfect to store diapers and wipes in! We are going to put a changing pad on the top of the bookcase and all the wonderful books we have received below. I can’t wait to see it setup.

Then, the pack n’ play and high chair are the last things to setup along with an ‘adjustable gym’ that needs a few screws in it to hold together. After that, we are pretty much set. My hospital bag is kind of ready. I want to get some more CDs together for ‘labor’ music. At the last second I will also have to throw some toilitries in like my contacts, glasses, toothbrush, etc.

I still really need another week at work to be comfortably set to not compulsively check my email for a few weeks. Hopefully I will be able to wrap things up Mon-Wed and then be able to relax a bit.  I’ve found that my tummy is definitely ‘heavy’ now and I’m starting to feel waaay to many aches and pains. I’m assuming the other cramps that I keep feeling every other day or so (not violent ones like last week) are just continuing to get my body ready so we shall see what happens in the next week or so. I am still trying to keep the 14th in my mind as my due date even though the Doc has the 7th still.

Next Doc appt is still December 1st and we can see if anymore progress has been made. 🙂 Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I have to leave these two cute pictures of our ‘kids’.  Crash is sitting in the corner of the couch peering around at us eating lunch. He is always hilarious watching us very carfully in case any food drops. Talis is below sitting in a box we brought home from Costco that had some groceries in it. He climbed in so quickly and he’s been sitting in there for the last eight hours. We are glad he’s now in the box instead of just sitting on the counter like always. 🙂
