Baby Shower

by admin on October 8, 2005

I´m writing this weeks later but I´m still overwhelmed with how many friends and family showed up to celebrate Baby Snickers at the baby shower held at my Aunt Wendy´s house.  The day was definitely an EVENT with the huge canopy thrown up on my aunt´s lawn decked out to perfection by master decorator, Krysta, and many of my other friends. The theme was jungle, to go along with our jungle nursery. It was awesome! Vines and flowers hanging from the canopy, tropical flower centerpieces, and even animal cookies for each person on the table! The food was YUMMY with corn chowder, salad, fruit, bread, and appetizers were amazing. My aunts, Grandma Evie, and mom had made all the food delicious.  It was so much fun!

The games played were hilarious, guessing the candy melted into the diaper was pretty darn funny (and gross to look at!) with Angela scoring perfectly. Grammy scored almost perfectly on the ‘Name that Baby Animal´ game! No one came close! Dana, of course, was the big winner for the ‘Don’t say the name Baby’ (otherwise your pin gets stolen!). There were some other games that we didn´t get to but hanging around with everyone was so much fun that I just don´t think we had time!

At the end of the shower, there were so many presents for Snickers crammed on to this table it was about to collapse! “The baby” (I haaaaate calling him/her that) is completely set with clothes for the first few months of their life! Every time I was opening up those small clothes, I was cringing at how TINY they were.  How could a little person be that tiny to fit into these clothes?? More importantly, how in the world was *I* going to get that little tiny person into them! Yikes!! You may see a look of shock when I´m holding up those onsies! Hehe ? So many other gifts were given and they were all simply gorgeous and given in love. This baby is already so loved and adored (shown by the many tummy rubs I am receiving!) and it´s so nice to know that s/he will have such a wonderful support group through the rest of it´s life.

On the invitations, it had said to bring a book for the baby.  We have a full library started with all these classic baby books. Justin and I can’t wait to start reading to our child. It will be so much fun. The inscriptions in the books will be treasured forever.

Here are a few more pictures. I need to see if I can link to the Ofoto event for more! The picture of the bassinet has a huge story to it. 🙂 That bassinet was mine first! I was the first Williams baby to sleep in it. It was then passed down to all of my cousins and a few other relatives and friends. Now, 25 years later (and completely refubished!), it is passing down to my child.  My aunt Wendy had it completely done in a jungle theme with matching blankets and pillows. It’s gorgeous!
